About the authors
Rob White
Marketing Manager, Avis UK
I joined Avis in 2002 fresh out of university having previously spent a year out from my studies to work at the company as a placement student. I have sinced moved between a couple of different roles and have now settled into my position as Product and Marketing Intelligence Manager. One of my job highlights is working on this blog. It’s great fun having this kind of dialogue with our customers and it represents an important step for Avis. I believe that with all of the conversations and information sharing that the Internet facilitates, there really is no excuse for companies not to listen to their customers. Outside of work… I do love a good road trip and I don’t think you can beat driving the open road in the stunning South Island in New Zealand or the spectacular Utah and Arizona in the USA. I also love my music and my football and you can often find me jumping around to the music in Brixton Academy or kicking a ball in anger for the Avis team in the local 5-a-side league.
Eibhlin Payne
Former Head of Customer Support and Head of Region South, Avis UK
Eibhlin was instrumental in the launch of the blog, ensuring it’s integration into the Customer Support and Service Excellence teams. This was vital to the effective managment of customer queries posted on the blog and to ensure feedback was correctly channelled. After 4 years heading the Customer Support team, she moved into operations as Head of Region South in late 2007. Her new position allowed her to provide the blog with a unique perspective on life on the ‘front-line’. In September 2008, Eibhlin left Avis to take up an exciting new role in her native Ireland with a well-known mobile telecommunications company.
Stephen Spiers
Former Intranet Webmaster, Avis UK
Stephen, along with Eibhlin, represented the Customer Support team on the blog, playing a key role in it’s day to day management. He has been one of the blog’s biggest contributors as both an author and in responding to comments. His role in the Service Excellence function of the Customer Support team also put him in the ideal position to utilise customer feedback from the blog to identify and implement improvements to the rental experience for our customers.
Xavier Vallee
Former Head of Marketing, Avis UK
Along with Rob White, if it wasn’t for the perseverence and passion of Avis UK’s former Head of Marketing, the blog would probably have not been launched in the first place. Launching a corporate blog is not as straightforward as you might think and Xavier was a driving force behind making it all happen. And his hard work clearly paid off for him as, in the second half of 2008, he earned a promotion to Head of Marketing for Avis Europe. So, while he is not involved on the blog day-to-day anymore, you will probably find him on the blog from time-to-time, soaking up all the customer commentary.
