#2 in Tripadvisor’s hot spots for 2009 is Agia Galini in Crete…
What’s the deal?
Agia Galini is another small fishing village on the list but, despite the growing tourism, is said to have retained it’s local charm and has been described as “one of the most attractive places in the south of Crete”. The village itself is built on a hill and is centred round the port that stretches out on to the Lybian sea. It is also a good base for travelling to ancient Greek locations such as like Phaistos, Aghia Triada and Gortys or for taking a boat trip.
What are other traveller’s saying?
To be honest I could find very little in the way of traveller reviews for this holiday destination. The limited reviews of Tripadvisor do suggest it could be an alll round destination for all the family as well as being a good location for a romantic getaway. If you are reading this and you have been to Agia Galini, please let us know whether you would recommend it and provide any tips on what you would do there!
How do I get there?
One thing travellers do recommend is flying to Chania airport rather than Heraclion airport as it is much closer (by 2 hours). You can access Agia Galini from the airport by bus, taxi or a hire car.
