We’re running a bit late writing our first blog post for the week with the team attending the annual Avis UK conference over the past couple of days. It was a great conference with everyone leaving energised and committed to delivering on our goals for the year ahead. However, for me, the nicest thing about going to these conferences is to get out of head office and spend some time with those people who are the most critical to the success of Avis – the staff at our rental stations who are responsible for delivering our service day in, day out.
I have a lot of admiration for anyone who works in our rental stations. Car hire can be a difficult and complicated service to deliver with a number of challenging operational issues to contend with. But our front-line staff do a great job meeting this challenge every day. It is these people who make the real We Try Harder difference. They are our unsung heroes.
So today’s blog post is about introducing and giving recognition to our staff on the front-line. If you work in one of our rental stations then I would encourage you to make yourself known by posting a comment stating your name, which office you work in and anything you would like to say to our customers. Our people are very much pivotal to the quality of our service and it would great if our customers could get to know who these people are!

Hello, I’m Tony from our Leeds Bradford airport branch, I am very customer service orientated and just love to help people. I totally enjoy my work and even look forward to coming into work every day.
Afternoon, my name is Marcus and I manage our office in Sheffield.
May will be the start of my 4th year with Avis, and I love it when I can spend time with a customer when they collect from us. Explaining any pre-existing damage on the car, and detailing what we consider to be chargeable damage or wear and tear ensures we remain fair and transparent with our damage processes.
Locals will know a large proportion of the Sheffield city centre is undergoing development, but after what seemed like years the roads around us are open and flowing freely, so think of us next time you rent a car!
Regards
Marcus
Hi, My name is Donna Shields and i am one of the Supervisor’s here at Heathrow. I have worked for Avis for 21 years and i enjoy working in a customer service enviroment. I enjoy my job as every day is not the same and the team at Heathrow are committed to delivering an exceptional and outstanding service to all of our customers.
Hi everyone, my name is Louise and i am from the Stirling Agency. I have been with Avis for almost 9 years and enjoy my job now just as much as I did in the very beginning. I love being on the frontline dealing with all scenarios. I pride myself in being able to turn a not so happy customer into a happy customer who then rents with Avis again due to the level of service I have given them.
I work with the finest team in the UK at Manchester Airport.
My job entails helping you to find your car, helping you with the controls, clearing the snow and ice from your screens, help you to move the seats and parcel shelves, give you assistance with finding your way out (and sometimes your way back in) and we check your cars for extra damage that you may have found before your departure.
We rapidly check your car on return and issue you with a receipt so you can head off to departures.
We try where we can to ease your journey and make you use our team again
Hey, my name is Nicky and I manage the Downtown and Airport locations in Plymouth.
I have been with Avis for 10 years (I started when I was very young!)and have previously worked in the Portsmouth, Southampton and Exeter offices.
The thing I like most about working for Avis is our customers.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a customer who returns to rent a car from you again because the rental experience they had was so easy and enjoyable!
I was talking to a customer yesterday about the first time I ever rented a car to him – 9yrs and 8 mths ago!!
This got me wondering why he has remained loyal to Avis for so many years – his reply was simple – ‘You take the time to converse with me and never look as if you are having a bad day’.
This comment was one of the best compliments I could have from a customer, as I always try to ensure that no matter what is going on ‘behind the scenes’ the customer gets my full attention and leaves the office feeling happy and valued!
Hi I’m Nick, Station Manager at Manchester Airport. We have a great team of staff here at Manchester dedicated to making your renting experience a pleasant and efficient one.
We try our best to give you what you need, whether it is speed or maybe you have more time and you want a chat or more help with directions and places of interest.
We like to provide a little bit extra and are always willing to listen if you want to suggest something which you feel we can do to help.
It can be hard sometimes to juggle the operation here as we have car hire in all 3 terminals (unique in the UK,) you can help us to make things more efficient for you by giving us your flight details when you book. (Or just tell us the terminal number you are using if you don’t know the flight number.)
Lastly, we wouldn’t be here without all our customers so thank you for renting at Manchester Airport and thank you for choosing Avis.
I hired a car the other day from avis. one of the better car rental experiences I’ve had. thanks
Hi Everyone,
My name is Denise Tridgell, and I have worked for Avis for 22 years. I am currently working at Avis Heathrow, however most of my service has been based at Trident House in the Customer Service department. I am thoroughly enjoying working in a great team at LHR and broadening my Avis knowledge. My Customer Service skills have also come in handy. Being on the front line has made me understand and appreciate how hard operations work. I love the shifts even though sometimes I could be working instead of socialising. Ha Ha.
